Portrait of young woman
Around 1790
Watercolor and gouache, oval: 11 x 8.8 cm.
Gilt metal frame, oval: 11,6 x 9 cm
Beautiful portrait of a young woman in a park painted by HEINRICH FRIEDRICH FÜGER (1751-1818) considered to be the most important Austrian painters.
The woman wears a white dress with a pointed neckline and a red shawl.
A typical Füger work in which the dotted line is clearly distinguishable. This technique, which is a characteristic of him for painting the background, is called the "water drop technique".
His works are kept in the most important museums and private collections.
There is a large bibliography on Heinrich Friedrich Fuger. A consulter en premier lieu: Robert Keil, Heinrich Friedrich Füger (1751–1818) – Only a few are granted the privilege of seeing the light of truth, Vienna, Amartis, 2009.
